Pine Bark and extract Description:Pine Bark extract contains rich oligomeric proanthocyanidins
(OPCs) which has strong antioxidant activity. Its antioxidant and
free radical scavenging ability are 50 times than that of VE, and
20 times than that of VC. OPC is a well-known antioxidant with
characteristics of non-toxic, non-mutagenic, non-carcinogenic and
no side effects. Pine bark has been proved to be a new source of
OPC. OPC extracted from pine bark has no difference in quality and
function, and there are just slight differences in appearance.
As a strong antioxidant, OPC is used not only in healthcare
products but also in food, beverage for Lengthening storage period.
OPC has been widely used in cosmetics for its special antioxidant
activity and free radical scavenging ability. Especially, it also
has the property of antibacterial, anti-inflammation, pigmentation
removment. Japanese company has developed oily cosmetic which
contians OPC for skin bright and clean. France company has
developed with OPC night cream, shampoo and rinse slobber, while
Italy company research the development of functional cosmetics
containing OPC for anti-inflammatory.
Scholars have studied the application of pine bark extract in
tobacco. Their experimental results show that adding pine bark
extract into filter can reduce the free radicals of cigarette. It
